Asian Institute of Management- Research Associate

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the AIM Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness, the Research Associate/ Analyst (RA) is expected to contribute to the Center’s activities and deliverables in line with its agenda to promote inclusive growth. Notably, this includes providing research assistance on and technical support to projects, including those identified under the Center’s policy research and technical assistance agenda, such as competitiveness, industrialization and competition policy, social protection and social insurance, and democratic institutions.

Key Result Areas:

In support of the Center’s research agenda, the Research Associate is expected to:

A. Contribute towards the development of research outputs such as policy briefs, briefing notes, presentations, empirical papers, and other research outputs, specifically by conducting:

  • Reviews and analyses of literature
  • Data gathering (may include development of research instruments; conduct of field interviews, surveys, FGDs; review of literature, etc)
  • Data analysis and write-up

B. Provide assistance in connection with the conduct of marketing/networking activities, which may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing inputs toward the development, maintenance, and updating of the website
  • Regular liaison with project partners
  • Providing administrative/ logistical support towards the conduct of marketing events, which may include but are not limited to conferences, seminars, research colloquia, and other such activities
  • Continuous development and maintenance of databases (e.g. database of partners, conferences, experts) for the continuing expansion of networks


  • Preferably working towards an advanced university degree (Completed MA coursework, preferably in Economics or development-related field) but fresh graduates are also welcome
  • Having relevant working experience is an advantage
  • Must have appreciation of, solid background on, and understanding of development and economic issues/concerns
  • Must be knowledgeable on the use of statistical analysis softwaree
  • Has had past experience in conducting events such as seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Can efficiently handle and deliver outputs under pressure and with minimum supervision
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Has excellent organizational skills, able to efficiently multi-task, has high attention to detail, and able to contribute to team research processes
